where are mango orchards
we use to play
skyscrappers now here , kissing the sky
looking at us disdainfully
where are ponds and wells
we are quenching our thirst with bottled water
where is the dust of fragrant earth
where is love smeared mud
where is banyan tree , our eternal mate
where is bullock cart
speedy modern wagons beating all
where is Chaupal
all used to sit and share
where are zigzag muddy ways
to cross the fields
o! india where are you
are you in speedy hissing wagon
or in long queue of impatient patients
or you are in tons of currency
or in loud crying of self appraisal
